The Executive Education Programs are online, flexible and short. They are suitable for any learner who wants to enrich or gain knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices in the areas of the learning disorders & assessment, counseling, health & social care, inclusive & special needs education, and therapy provision. The programs are also suitable for continuous professional development learning. 

The programs are offered in English and Chinese languages. An IETLS 5.5 or equivalent is required for non-native speakers if the learner intends to take the programs offered in the English language.

All certificates are jointly awarded by the Merlion Academy and the International Association of Therapists. Learner is required to complete the guided learning hours and pass the program assessment as well. Only Executive Certificates earned may be used to gain module exemptions from the Licentiate Programs. However, only the Licentiate Programs delivered in English language are allowed as pre-requisite qualifications and to gain module exemptions for the membership admission qualifying programs of the USA based prestigious professional body International Association of Counselors and Therapists

Executive Certificate: Autism Spectrum Disorder – Introduction [Level I] 
Learners will be introduced to the concept of autism or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) began from the Age of Antiquity to the New Millennium of the 21st century AD, and also learn about the different categories of autism treatment – allopathic, complementary and alternative in order to evaluate each treatment.

Learners will be introduced to the key levels of autism screening and assessment and will learn about using the different autism assessment tools – formal, informal and non-formal. Learners will be given selected case studies of subjects (child, youth and adult) with autism and learn how to plan an autism treatment based on one to three selected autism treatment approaches.

Learners will learn and understand the three key subtypes of sensory processing disorder and the results obtained from the Sensory Profile administration and what they can do in the treatment. Executive Certificate of Professional Practice: Special Needs Vocational Assessors [Level A]
Learners are introduced to the disability history and models of People with Disabilities (PWDs). For people with disabilities, employment means greater economic self-sufficiency, an opportunity to use their skills, and more active participation in community life. Learners will understand the kinds of inventories and checklists available to assist community service workers working with people with disabilities in seeking employment.

Executive Certificate of Professional Practice: Special Needs Vocational Assessors [Level B]
Learners will also be introduced to the vocational screening and clinical exploratory assessment for the different phases of vocational measurement cycle. Learners will also cover the different types, purposes and uses of measures in vocational assessment, and interpret the scores in terms of the vocational competence and performance of the person with disability, and if s/he is ready for vocational training and/or employment.

Learners will be introduced the differences among the three key terms used in special education, especially relating to learning & behavioral challenges: difficulties, disabilities and disorders. Participants will be introduced to the 14 disability categories provided by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 (IDEA), which aligns IDEA 1997 closely to the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), and helps to ensure equity, accountability and excellence in education for children with disabilities.

Learners will be introduced the operating definition of Adapted/Adaptive Physical Education (AdpPE in short) and the difference between the two terms ‘adapted’ and ‘adaptive’. This module will take learners on a journey through history relevant to the development of AdpPE and how it has evolved through time. In addition, learners will be introduced to the guiding principles and practice of AdpPE.

Learners will also be introduced to Inclusive Physical Education (IncPE) and explore the similarities and differences between IncPE and AdpPE. While Adp PE is more appropriate for students with disabilities attending special schools, IncPE is best for those students with disabilities in mainstream schools.
